As the title of this post suggests, contrary to popular belief, rarely if ever are leaders born with the innate skills and capabilities needed to become a successful leader. Rather effective leadership is the result of behaviors and skills learned through a combination of formal training and life experience. This fact has been recognized and well understood by Scouts BSA, and is why they have established the National
Youth Leadership Training program. Three benefactors of the most recent session run by the Connecticut Yankee Council are members of Troop 270! Evan, Cameron, and Henry all completed NYLT these past two weekends at Deer Lake Scout Reservation, comprising more than 4 full days of intensive training (perhaps with a little fun at times). Congratulations to our future leaders and thank you to the Connecticut Yankee adult and scout volunteers who gave of their time to impart their wisdom and skills to our scouts.
